Orange and Purple Clemson Tigers Palmetto Shirts
In the Upstate of South Carolina, especially around Clemson, Greenville, and Spartanburg, the palmetto moon often appears in the orange and purple team colors of the Clemson Tigers. However, all across South Carolina and even across the United States, Clemson fans will combine their beloved orange and purple tiger gear with the South Carolina palmetto.
The Clemson football team plays in Memorial Stadium, Frank Howard Field (also known as “Death Valley”) in Clemson, South Carolina. On game days, you will often see fans wearing Clemson Tiger apparel that includes images of the South Carolina palmetto. It’s almost the perfect way to show both team and state pride. Fans also will wear a simple palmetto moon logo in their favorite team colors, in this case, orange and purple.

Across the state, fans the University of South Carolina Gamecocks stake their own claim to the palmetto. The palmetto moon in the school colors of garnet and black can be found many different items including Gamecock palmetto t-shirts, sweatshirts and stickers. Some designs include a modified rooster that is standing on one leg and in the shape of the palmetto tree.
The South Carolina Gamecocks football team plays in Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia, South Carolina. While the athletic rivalry with the Clemson Tigers is strongest for football fans, both universities feature baseball teams that are frequently competitive and make regular trips the the College World Series in Omaha, Nebraska.
